Argos is the first national institute of film and video art. Argos was – and still remains – the first centre of art, and the most comprehensive, which is dedicated to this recent form of art. The expertise of Argos in conservation, restoration, production and presentation of films and art videos is well-known and widely renowned. The centre is a leader of the field at a national level, and wants to strengthen its position on the international stage.
Argos continues to expand its activities, opening and reopening up audiovisual art, as well as continuing to develop itself as a multifunctional hub connecting artists and the public. The centre aims to trigger a permanent confrontation between art and society. Argo is a meeting place for constant revival: both stimulating for the experimental artist, and for the adventurous public.
What Argos offers will be a permanent challenge to any form of cultural complacency. Argos wants to go where no-one has gone before, and fundamentally seeks to play an authentic pioneering role—professional, and never resigned.
