Academia is a publishing house specialising in university subjects, human sciences being at the top. Its catalogue now consists of more than 800 titles, aimed at a varied public : professionals, teachers, researchers, students and those passionate about learning. Their publications offer a large choice of university collections, the majority managed by directors of external, renowned collections.
Founded in 1987 and based in Louvain-la-Neuve, at the heart of the university city, les éditions Academia have built up their catalogue around collections such as Au cœur des textes, Publication des archives de l’Université catholique de Louvain, Anthropologie prospective, Sciences du langage : carrefours et points de vue, Intellection, Thélème, Sefar, Science politique d’abord in collaboration with authors from the Université catholique de Louvain, and also opening up to authors from other universities. Always with the aim to be a think tank, a distributor of knowledge and a publisher open to a constantly evolving world.
In 2011, the publishers have been consolidated by the group Harmattan. New authors came to enrich the catalogue, and new collections were created. Some have been revisited and rethought due to an improved understanding of the expectations of the readers. In the digital era, Academia has also reviewed its techniques of production and offers, from now, its titles in both paper and digital versions. Present on social media sites to be closer to their readers, les éditions Academia has an eye out for new projects.
In this dynamo of development, les éditions Academia opened itself to literature by creating two collections : Littératures and Livres Libres. These collections welcome fictional texts of all styles (witness accounts, detective novels, fantasy…).
We warmly welcome you to our sales office in Louvain-la-Neuve (29 Grand’Place), Monday-Friday.
