Casterman Editions were created in 1780 and specialise in the comic book and youth publishing sector.
In 1999, Casterman became a branch of the Flammarion group. In September 2012, the Flammarion group was taken over by Madrigall, the mother publishing house of Gallimard and the third largest French publishing house. Casterman Editions today are owned completely by Madrigall.
